Tis the season for parties! When it comes to hosting the perfect bash I need all the help I can get. Between daily life, kids and everything that comes along with the season getting tips from experts like?Colin Cowie help make event planning almost stress free.
I will not be hosting any parties this year, but come Jan 5th I will have a house full of family for my Son?s 7th birthday/New Years party. I will be relying on trusted P&G products like Febreze, Swiffer, Mr. Clean, Dawn and Cascade to ensure that my house is at its guest best.
Clean up is just one small part carrying off the perfect party though. We all know that a great party is really?all about the guests so here are my 3 tips to keeping them happy.
1. Have cold and hot drinks on hand including water. Not everyone is going to want to drink the same thing so having a full range of beverages to choose from is important. I try and keep coffee on, hot water at hand for those that like tea, pop, milk and water for the kids. Cold beer and both white and red wine are also party must haves. Don?t forget to Deflate the Elephant and make sure that there are designated drivers for those guests who want to imbibe in?alcoholic?beverages.
2. Snacks and Finger Foods are a must.?Chips, dips, veggie platters, cheese and grapes are standards on my table for parties. The kids and I bake before hand so that there are sweet treats as well.?I am lucky to have fabulous Sister In Laws that help out. Every one takes care of one snack item, that way not all the work and?expense?is on my shoulders. It makes for a truly festive party.
3. Play games all sorts: This is a?tradition?from my Hubby?s family. Christmas day, after lunch was eaten, groups would sit down and play games like?Dominoes, Risk and Boggle. These days the kids can still be found playing games, but more often than not its of the Kinect variety. They are a great way to shake off the post meal slump and connect as a family. I want to bring the board game back to the holidays as well and will be digging out our favourites and placing them in plain sight in the hope that someone will get a game started if I am busy with clean up.
In short ? Eat, drink, and be merry!
