RALEIGH--The NCAA Basketball Tournament is coming back to Raleigh in 2014. For fans at Rudino's Sports Bar in Raleigh, that's exciting news.
"It just means that the rivalry gets even bigger and it's accessible for those of us who would love to be able to go," said?UNC fan Whitney Bennett.
"I'll go see the boys, yeah absolutely," said UNC fan Cole McLaurin.
PNC Arena is one of the 13 host sites for the preliminary rounds of the tournament and arena manager Dave Olsen said Raleigh is the perfect fit.
"They look for size, they look for venues that have good history with the tournament and we have great history," said Olsen.
The tournament will also boost the local economy.
"It's a good financial engine for the arena, N.C. State, and the community," Olson said. "The restaurants and the hotels really love these events."
Dick Christy, Associate Athletics Director at N.C. State, issued a statement about the tournament.
"Being a market at the heart of college basketball has proven a successful formula for ticket sales in our previous two hosting opportunities. We are hopeful for similar results in 2014," Christy said.
Back at the bar, server Tony Beljan is hoping for a strong basketball season this year.
"It's been kill us, we have a huge Hurricanes fan base normally, but without the hockey games we've all been hurting," Deljan said.
Fans said they're already getting their hopes up for scoring some tickets.
"Absolutely, of course tickets would be awesome," Bennett said.
It will be the 15th time Raleigh has hosted tournament games.
